Welcome to the largest run in Australia! You’ll find a thrilling, long run called the Crackenback Trail at Thredbo. There are heaps of runs across Thredbo, ranging from beginner-friendly runs to intermediate runs. 6 hours south of Sydney, this exciting snow resort is a popular spot for those who are Sydney-based. With plenty of accommodation options around and a lively ski village, you won’t be short on activities around this fun-filled mountain!

Mount Buller

Welcome to the closest place to Melbourne for a snow adventure! Check out Mount Buller. It’s only 3 hours from Melbourne, so you’ll be able to get to Mount Buller quite easily, making Mount Buller the ultimate option for a single day snow tour from Melbourne.

There are heaps of things around Mount Buller that you can do. From cosy cafes to swish restaurants, you’ll find a place to refuel after your day out on the slopes.

If you’re still learning the ropes, head over to Little Buller Spur – which is a wide slope. For intermediates, there’s a parallel to this which leads up to the Wombat Chair. Whatever your ability, you’ll find a suitable run for you at Mount Buller.

Falls Creek

Falls Creek is your go-to snow haven if you’re after a family-friendly adventure in the mountains! Falls Creek has plenty of options for either skiing/snowboarding, or cross-country skiing. It is home to the biggest bit of skiing and snowboarding terrain in the whole state. Welcome to Victoria’s ultimate ski season village! There’s a green run for beginners, a blue run for intermediates, and an advanced run is the black run.

Perisher

Not too far away from Thredbo, you’ll find Perisher. It’s just a 50 mintue drive from Thredbo, but it’s the largest ski resort in the Southern Hemisphere. Perisher is a well-visited snow resort due to its 47 lifts and 1,245 acres of skiable terrain. It’s a mammoth site, so you won’t be stuck for places to go!

What do the different runs mean?

Different colour slopes depend on your ability.

If you’re on a green slope, it’s relatively easy and flat. The blue slope has more of an incline, and the black slope is highly inclined.
