Experience the stunning beauty of Bruny Island on this one-day adventure filled with delicious food, breathtaking scenery, and rich cultural heritage, all led by a locally owned tour operator. Your journey begins in Kettering, where we board the ferry to Bruny Island. Keep your camera ready - the sea views during the crossing are truly spectacular. Upon arrival, we’ll head straight to the ancient Mount Mangana Rainforest, looking out for rare white wallabies and other native wildlife. Next, we’ll visit the historic Cape Bruny Lighthouse Station, home to Australia's southernmost lighthouse tour. Learn about its fascinating history before enjoying a rustic morning tea featuring Bruny Island’s famous cheeses, freshly shucked oysters, and freshly baked breads, set against the stunning backdrop of pristine white sand shores. Following the lighthouse experience, you’ll have the opportunity to visit local cheese and oyster shops to pick up some delicious souvenirs. Then, we’ll take a scenic drive around the island, stopping at specialty food producers, panoramic lookouts, and endless sandy beaches. You’ll have plenty of time to explore these spots at your own pace—whether that means strolling along the beach, dipping your toes in the ocean, or simply relaxing in the sun. For lunch, you’ll savor a choice of fresh fish, local lamb, chowder, or a seafood platter (with gluten-free and vegetarian options available), while taking in the spectacular views of Sunset Beach. Along the journey, you’ll also hear stories of early industry, settlers, and the original landowners, enriching your experience of this unique island.
This tour includes a delightful rustic picnic-style Morning Tea, a delicious Hotel Bruny Lunch, and an exclusive guided tour of the Cape Bruny Lighthouse! Departing daily from Hobart, it’s the perfect way to explore Bruny Island’s geographical and cultural heritage, with plenty of local produce tastings included along the way.
